A’s reinstate RHP Daniel Mengden from the IL and designate him for assignment

OAKLAND, Calif. – ­­­­The Oakland A’s reinstated right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden from the Covid-19 Related Injured List and designated him for assignment, the club announced today.

Mengden was on the A’s Opening Day roster and started the fifth game of the season before moving to the bullpen. He was 0-1 with a 3.65 ERA and .286 opponents batting average in four games before going on the Covid-19 Related IL on Sept. 3. The 27-year-old right-hander was acquired from Houston prior to the 2015 trading deadline in the Scott Kazmir deal and made his Major League debut with Oakland in 2016. Mengden is 17-20 with a 4.64 ERA in 60 games, including 48 starts, in five seasons in the majors.
