September 13th, 2019

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s announced today that catcher Chris Herrmann cleared waivers, rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas and was released. Herrmann was designated for assignment on Tuesday when the A’s claimed Beau Taylor off waivers from Toronto.

Herrmann began the season on the 60-day injured list after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee March 8. He was reinstated from the IL July 2 and hit .310 over his first nine games before going 8-for-55 (.146) over his final 21 contests. The 31-year-old left-handed hitter batted .202 with a home run and eight RBI in 30 games overall with the A’s and is a .205 career hitter with 25 home runs and 103 RBI in 370 games over eight seasons in the majors.
