Astros announce Minor League Players of the Month

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros player development department has named RHP Hunter Brown the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May and OF Quincy Hamilton the Astros Minor League Player of the Month for May.

Brown, 23, recorded a 1.21 ERA (3ER/22.1IP) with 30 strikeouts, 0.94 WHIP and a .179 opponent batting average in five appearances including three starts in May for Triple A Sugar Land. The right-handed pitcher was also named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 23-29. He made one appearance during the week on May 26 at El Paso. In that appearance, he tossed a career-high seven scoreless innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts.

Brown currently ranks tied for first in strikeouts (56), second in ERA (2.01), second in opponent batting average (.200) and fifth in WHIP (1.14) in the Pacific Coast League. Brown is listed as the Astros number one overall prospect and the 99th overall prospect in all of baseball by MLBPipeline.com

Hamilton, 23, batted .381 (32x84) with four home runs, eight doubles, 18 runs, 11 RBI, 14 walks and a 1.099 OPS (.480 OBP. / .619 SLG.) in 23 appearances in May between Low A Fayetteville and High A Asheville.

On the season, Hamilton is batting .316 (48x152) with seven home runs, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles, 23 RBI, 22 walks and a .943 OPS (.417 OBP. / .526 SLG.).
