Astros continue homestand with Lone Star Series

Highlights of the weekend include the first Summer Street Fest and first Kids Day since 2019.

HOUSTON, TX – - The Lone Star Series presented by Amegy Bank continues this weekend as the Astros finish off a six-game homestand with three against the Texas Rangers. Highlights this weekend include the return of Summer Street Fest presented by Pluckers, scheduled to take place on Saturday, and the return of Kids Day, scheduled for Sunday. Both events are back for the first time since the 2019 season.

Friday, July 23 vs. Texas Rangers – 7:10 p.m. CT

Prior to game one of the three-game series vs. the Texas Rangers, the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Lone Star Series t-shirt presented by Germania Insurance. Gates will open three hours prior to First Pitch. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early to receive any promotional giveaways as supplies are limited and not guaranteed. The Pregame Happy Hour presented by Budweiser is set for 5:30 p.m. CT – 7 p.m. CT. Every Friday night home game at the Budweiser Brew House, fans can enjoy $5 Ultra Draft, a live DJ and amazing views from the Michelob Ultra Bar. Must be 21 years or older to participate. In a pregame ceremony, six different little leagues/baseball organizations from the greater Houston area will be presented with a $500 check by dealer representatives from Houston Area Chevy Dealers courtesy of Chevy Youth Baseball. This is the first of five different presentations that will happen over the remainder of the season.

Friday is also Star Wars™ Night at Minute Maid Park, featuring tons of entertainment for the entire family, including fun photo opportunities and an Astros Star Wars™ Bobblehead Package. Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars™ character and can wear costumes and bring masks into the ballpark, but full facial coverings cannot be worn. The Star Wars™ theme continues for Big and Bright Friday Night Fireworks presented by ConocoPhillips, with the fireworks show set to Star Wars™ music. Saturday, July 24 vs. Texas Rangers – 6:10 p.m. CT

On Saturday, July 24, the series with the Rangers continues and the first Summer Street Fest presented by Pluckers since the 2019 season is on deck. The Street Fest will run from 3 p.m. CT to 6 p.m. CT on Crawford St. The Summer Street Fest will feature live music, cornhole, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, local Houston food trucks, face painters and caricature artists and inflatables. The first 10,000 fans in attendance on Saturday will receive an Alex Bregman “Back2Back” Bobblehead, presented by H-E-B. This Bregman bobblehead will match back-to-back with the Yordan Alvarez bobblehead available to the first 10,000 fans tomorrow (Sunday).

Longtime Houston broadcaster Kevin Eschenfelder, voted in as the 2020 inductee into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor will be inducted pregame on Saturday. Eschenfelder, a native Houstonian, is in his 25th season as the Astros pre and postgame host for television rightsholder, AT&T SportsNet Southwest. Overall, he is in his 31st year working in the Houston media market.

Saturday is also Chevy Military Night, presented by Houston Area Chevy Dealers and Military Warriors Support Foundation, as part of the Chevrolet Everyday Heroes program. Retired United States Army Specialist, Patrick Davis, one of our nation’s combat-wounded heroes and his family will be honored during a pregame ceremony. Army Specialist Davis served our nation in Iraq and for his service was awarded an Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and two Purple Hearts for being wounded twice on the battlefield. In addition to being honored, he will also throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The game is also Stephen F. Austin University Night and a stencil of the Lumberjacks’ logo will be featured on the mound during the game.

Sunday, July 25 vs. Texas Rangers – 1:10 p.m. CT

Rounding out the three-game series and the end of a six-game homestand is a day game on Sunday, June 25 at 1:10 p.m. CT. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a Yordan Alvarez “Back2Back” Bobblehead presented by H-E-B. This bobblehead matches back-to-back with the Alex Bregman bobblehead given out to the first 10,000 fans on Saturday.

Sunday is also Kids Day in Union Station, the first one since the 2019 season. Families can participate in a variety of kid-friendly activities in the Union Station Lobby from 11:00am-1:30pm. The Astros Youth Academy will host a Signing Day Presentation pregame for those players who are signing to play collegiately. The RBI softball team will also be recognized prior to the game as they are set to advance to the RBI World Series in Vero Beach, Fla., and are looking for their third-straight title after winning in 2018 and 2019.
