OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s optioned J.B. Wendelken to Triple-A Las Vegas following the game on Sunday. The move clears a spot on the 25-man roster for Homer Bailey, who was acquired from Kansas City on Sunday.
Wendelken was recalled from Las Vegas July 6 for his third stint with Oakland and pitched just once, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings and striking out four that day at Seattle. He is 1-1 with a 4.56 ERA and .206 opponents batting average in 21 relief appearances overall with the A’s. Wendelken is also 4-1 with a 5.75 ERA and .294 opponents average in 15 games with Las Vegas.
