Brewers name Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Month for August

Zamora and Chourio earn Players of the Month; Reifert and Rodriguez named Pitchers of the Month

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have named infielder Freddy Zamora and infielder/outfielder Jackson Chourio as their Minor League Players of the Month for August and right-handers Evan Reifert and Brailin Rodriguez as Minor League Pitchers of the Month.
 
Zamora, 22, hit .402 (35-for-87) with 10 doubles, 1 HR and 16 RBI in 24 games between Low-A Carolina and High-A Wisconsin in August. His .409 (27-for-66) average in 18 games with the Mudcats ranked second in Low-A for the month, while he led Low-A in on-base percentage (.506) and ranked fifth in OPS (1.082) and 10th in slugging percentage (.576).  
 
Selected by the Brewers in the second round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft, Zamora hit safely in 19 of his 24 games in August, including 12 multi-hit efforts. 
 
Chourio, 17, is in his first professional season after signing with Milwaukee as a non-drafted free agent in January. He led DSL Brewers 2 in RBI for the month with 11 in 19 games and drew 14 walks in 79 plate appearances to post a team-best .354 on-base percentage. 
 
Signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent in July of 2020, Reifert has excelled between Low-A Carolina and High-A Wisconsin in his first professional season. The 22-year-old right-hander posted a 2.51 ERA (14.1ip, 4er) with 2 saves and 24 strikeouts in 9 relief appearances with the Timber Rattlers in August. 
 
Rodriguez, 19, went 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA (19.2ip, 6er) with 26 strikeouts in 5 appearances (4 starts) for ACL Brewers Gold in August. He allowed one earned run or fewer in 4 of his 5 outings.
 
Signed as a non-drafted free agent in September of 2018, Rodriguez tied for seventh in the ACL in strikeouts (26) in August and ranked 10th in innings pitched (19.2).
