OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s announced today that catcher Beau Taylor, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday, was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Taylor batted .182 with two home runs and two RBI in nine games over two stints with Oakland from June 8 to July 1 and July 31 to August 2. He also hit .257 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 62 games with Triple-A Las Vegas. The 29-year-old was originally drafted by the A’s in fifth round in 2011 and made his Major League debut with Oakland last year. Taylor is a .185 career hitter with two home runs and two RBI in 16 games in two seasons in the majors.
