DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Mychal Givens from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for infielders Tyler Nevin and Terrin Vavra, as well as a player to be named later or cash considerations
• Givens, 30, has spent parts of six seasons with Baltimore, who drafted him in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Fla. … has allowed two runs over 13.0 innings pitched (1.38 ERA) with six walks and 19 strikeouts across 12 appearances for Baltimore this season with one loss … in his career with the Orioles since 2015, has gone 20-17 with a 3.32 ERA (336.0 IP, 124 ER), 129 walks and 406 strikeouts across 296 appearances.
• Nevin, 23, was selected by Colorado in competitive balance round A of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft … has batted .286 (390-for-1,362) with 88 doubles, seven triples, 36 home runs, 193 RBI, 155 walks and 274 strikeouts across parts of five Minor League seasons … made his Double-A debut in 2019, and batted .251 (117-for-466) with 60 runs, 26 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, 65 walks and 90 strikeouts … was added to Colorado’s 40-man roster on Nov. 20 and was named a member of the 60-man player pool for the 2020 season.
• Vavra, 23, has batted .313 (170-for-543) with 101 runs, 40 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 78 RBI, 88 walks and 102 strikeouts across two seasons after being selected by Colorado in the third round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft … was named the South Atlantic League MVP with Asheville last season after batting .318 (119-for-374) with 79 runs, 32 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 52 RBI, 62 walks and 62 strikeouts.
