PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated LHP Caleb Smith (@CalebASmith12) from the 45-day injured list. Following last night’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Kevin Ginkel to their Alternate Training Site.

Smith, 29, who will wear No. 31, was acquired from the Marlins on July 31, along with RHP Humberto Mejía and a player to be named later, for OF Starling Marte.

Smith went 10-11 with a 4.52 ERA (77 ER in 153.1 IP), .223 opponent average and 168 strikeouts in 28 starts for the Marlins in 2019. Smith made 1 start in 2020 before being placed on the injured list on Aug. 4.

Ginkel, 26, has appeared in 19 games with the D-backs this season.
