D-backs select the contract of Jeremy Beasley from alternate training site; place Madison Bumgarner on 10-day injured list

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Jeremy Beasley from the Alternate Training Site and placed LHP Madison Bumgarner on the 10-day injured list (mid-back strain).The D-backs’ active roster is at 28. The D-backs’ 40-man roster is at 39.

Beasley, 24, will make his Major League debut and wear No. 59. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder was acquired on Jan. 14 from the Angels for RHP Matt Andriese.

Over 3 Minor League seasons (2017-19) in the Angels’ organization, Beasley pitched in 68 games (43 starts) and went 16-15 with 2 saves, a 3.56 ERA (105 ER in 265.2 IP), .247 opponent average and 256 strikeouts.

Beasley spent the majority of the 2019 season with Double-A Mobile and went 6-7 with a 4.06 ERA (49 ER in 108.2 IP) and 102 strikeouts in 23 appearances (22 starts). He also made 3 starts for Triple-A Salt Lake.

He was the Angels’ 30th-round selection in the 2017 draft out of Clemson University.

Bumgarner, 31, has made 4 starts for the D-backs and is 0-3 with a 9.35 ERA.
