LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl.

Kershaw, 34, returns from the injured list after missing close to a month with right SI joint inflammation. The left-hander has been sidelined since May 13 and made one rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts. Prior to the injury, he was 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA (6 ER/30.0 IP) and 32 strikeouts against three walks. The 2014 National League MVP is 189-84 with a 2.48 ERA (685 ER/2484.2 IP) and 2,702 strikeouts in 384 career games. On April 30, he struck out Spencer Torkelson in the fourth inning to become the Dodgers franchise leader in strikeouts with career strikeout 2,697. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2006 First Year Player Draft out of Highland Park High School.

Bruihl, 24, allowed three runs on four hits in 1.0 inning of work last night. In 17 games with the Dodgers, he carries a 1-1 mark with a 3.86 ERA (7 ER/16.1 IP) and 10 strikeouts. He is in his second season with the Dodgers and he is a combined 1-2 with a 3.34 ERA (13 ER/35.0 IP) and 21 strikeouts in 38 combined games. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2017.
