Dodgers claim Anthony Bemboom and Conner Greene

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed catcher Anthony Bemboom from the Los Angeles Angels and right-handed pitcher Conner Greene from the Baltimore Orioles. Additionally, the Dodgers transferred left-handed pitchers Danny Duffy and Clayton Kershaw to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Bemboom, 31, was designated for assignment on August 7 by the Angels and was hitting .222 (6-for-27) with two RBI in eight games. He has spent parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles-AL (2019-21) and Tampa Bay (2019), hitting a combined .178 (22-for-129) with four homers and 11 RBI. He will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City and has played in 542 minor league games, hitting .240 with 41 homers and 244 RBI. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 22nd round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Creighton University.

Greene, 26, was designated for assignment on August 7 by the Orioles and was 0-0 with a 14.73 ERA (6 ER/3.2 IP) with five strikeouts in three games. He made his Major League debut on July 27 against the Marlins, tossing 2.0 IP with two strikeouts. In 10 minor league seasons, he is a combined 40-48 with a 4.34 ERA (352 ER/729.2 IP) and 569 strikeouts. The Santa Monica, CA native was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the seventh round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of Santa Monica High School.

Duffy, 32, was acquired on July 29 from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash consideration. He has appeared in 13 games (12 starts) this season, going 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA (17 ER/61.0 IP) and 65 strikeouts against 22 walks. He was placed on the injured list on July 20 with a left flexor strain. The Lompoc, CA native is in his 11th season with the Royals organization and is a combined 68-68 with a 3.95 ERA (514 ER/1172.1 IP) and 1,048 strikeouts. He was drafted by the Royals in the third round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft out of Cabrillo High School.

Kershaw, 33, was placed on the injured list on July 7 with left forearm inflammation. He was 9-7 with a 3.39 ERA (40 ER/106.1 IP) and 127 strikeouts against 19 walks in 18 starts this season. The three-time Cy Young award winner has been with the Dodgers since being drafted as the seventh overall selection in the 2006 First Year Player Draft out of Highland Park High School and is 184 -83 with a 2.48 ERA (671 ER/2439.1 IP) and 2,653 strikeouts.
