Indians exercise 2020 club option on RHP Corey Kluber

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2020 Major League 40-man roster:

Exercised the 2020 club option on RHP COREY KLUBER.

Declined the 2020 club options for INF JASON KIPNIS and RHP DAN OTERO.

Kluber, 33, was limited to seven starts in 2019 after fracturing his right forearm in a May 1 start at Miami. The three-time American League All-star is one of the most decorated pitchers in franchise history, ranking third in career strikeouts (1461), first in strikeouts per 9.0 innings (9.80) and second in walks + hits per 9.0 IP (WHIP, 1086) and winning pct. (.628). He owns a career mark of 98-58 with a 3.16 ERA in 208 games/203 starts (471 ER/1341.2 IP) and is the only pitcher in club history with multiple Cy Young Awards (2014 & 2017).

The current Major League 40-man roster is at 35 players with 7 on the 60-day Injured List.
