CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2019 Major League roster:
Recalled LHP LOGAN ALLEN (#53) from AAA Columbus.
Optioned LHP JOSH SMITH to AAA Columbus.
Allen, 22, was acquired on July 31 from the San Diego Padres along with Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes. Logan is making his club debut after being assigned to Columbus following the trade, where he made two starts (6ER/6.1IP), the last of which coming on August 9. Prior to July 31, he split the 2019 season between San Diego (6.75 ERA, 8G/4GS, 19ER/25.1IP) and Triple-A El Paso (5.15 ERA, 13GS, 33ER/57.2IP), making his Major League debut on June 18 vs. Milwaukee (7.0IP, 3H, 0R, 2BB, 5SO). The West Palm Beach, FL native was Boston’s eighth round pick in the 2015 draft and was traded to SD in November 2015 in a deal that sent RHP Craig Kimbrel to Boston. He is currently ranked the third-best prospect in the Cleveland system by MLB.com.
