SEATTLE, WA. – The Seattle Mariners have announced that Louis Boyd will manage the Everett AquaSox, the team’s Short-A affiliate in the Northwest League, for the remainder of the season. He takes over beginning tonight, Tuesday, July 23, as Everett begins a three-game road trip at the Vancouver Canadians.

“Louis is a perfect fit for this opportunity,” Director of Player Development Andy McKay said. “He is a dedicated Mariner and a tireless worker. We couldn’t be more excited for him to lead our young players in Everett.”

Boyd has been serving as a player/coach for the Modesto Nuts since the beginning of the 2019 season. He was originally selected by the Mariners in the 24th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arizona (2016-17). The North Vancouver, British Columbia, native, spent two seasons in the Mariners minor league system, batting .240 (65x314) with 41 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 18 RBI, 28 walks and 3 stolen bases in 97 games spanning over four different levels in the organization. He made his professional debut with the AZL Mariners in 2017, but also appeared in 6 games with Everett that season. Boyd graduated from Sutherland Secondary (North Vancouver, BC) in 2013 and spent two seasons at Cochise (AZ) College (2014-15) before transferring to the University of Arizona for his final two collegiate seasons.

Boyd takes over at the helm of Everett from Jose Moreno, who is no longer with the organization.
