Philadelphia's Neris disciplined

July 17th, 2019

Pitcher Hector Neris of the Philadelphia Phillies has received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch in the area of the head of David Freese of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the top of the ninth inning of Tuesday night’s game at Citizens Bank Park. Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Unless appealed, the suspension of Neris is scheduled to begin tonight, when the two Clubs are scheduled to continue their series in Philadelphia. If Neris elects to appeal, then the discipline issued to him will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
