The Pirates have claimed RHP Nick Tropeano off waivers from the New York Yankees and has been optioned to the team’s alternate training site in Altoona.
He was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Saturday (8/8).
The 30-year Tropeano made his Major League debut with the Astros in 2014 before being traded to the Angels on 11/5/14.
He spent parts of four seasons pitching with LAA (2015-16, 2018-19) and has produced a 12-14 record and a 4.51 ERA in 42 big league games (39 starts). Tropeano missed the 2017 campaign, recovering from Tommy John surgery.
