Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Joe Barlow off the 15-day Injured List and placed left-handed pitcher Brett Martin on the MLB Bereavement List.

Barlow has seen consecutive Injured List stints for a right index finger blister from both July 13-August 16 and August 18-September 22, with his only Rangers outing in that span coming on August 17 vs. Oakland.  He made 2 appearances on injury rehabilitation assignment with Round Rock (AAA) and Frisco (AA) this month, last pitching in Frisco’s Texas League semifinals Game 1 win on Tuesday vs. San Antonio (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 9 pitches/6 strikes).  Barlow has a 3-1 record with a team-high 13 saves and 3.16 ERA over 31 relief appearances with Texas this season.

Martin has gone 1-7 with one save and a 4.14 ERA over 55 games/one start for the Rangers this season.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers currently have 28 active players along with 40 players on the Major League roster and five players (Mitch Garver, Brad Miler, Josh Sborz, Nick Solak, Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
