Arlington, Texas— The Texas Rangers announced prior to Sunday’s homestand finale against the Oakland Athletics that the club has recalled outfielder Scott Heineman (#16) from the Alternate Training Site. The team has also placed catcher Jose Trevino on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to September 11, with a left wrist impingement.

Additionally, following Game 2 on Saturday night, right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell was returned to the Alternate Training Site.

Heineman was optioned to the Alternate Training Site on Thursday when Sam Huff was recalled following the Trevino injury, as this will be his second stint with the Rangers this season. Heineman was also with the club from Opening Day-September 9, batting .154 with one home run and 7 RBI over 24 games with Texas in 2020.

Trevino left the game on Wednesday vs. Los Angeles-AL when he injured his wrist on a swinging strike in the bottom of the 4th inning. He had X-rays taken, which were negative, but has not played since the injury. Trevino has batted .250 with 2 home runs, 8 doubles, and 9 RBI in 24 games for Texas this season. The first date he would be eligible to return is September 21.

Farrell was added to the Rangers active roster as the 29th man for Saturday’s doubleheader against the A’s, posting 2.0 scoreless innings in Game 2. Farrell has no record and a 8.44 ERA (5 ER/5.1 IP) over 4 appearances spanning two stints with the club: Opening Day-August 5 and September 12.

The Rangers host the Athletics today at 1:35 p.m. CT at Globe Life Field.
