BOSTON, MA -- The Boston Red Sox today reinstated catcher Kevin Plawecki from the COVID-19 Related Injured List. The club’s 40-man roster is now at 40.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.
Plawecki, 30, was placed on the COVID-19 Related Injured List on February 17. He made his Red Sox debut last season and set career highs in batting average (.341, 28-for-82), on-base percentage (.393), slugging percentage (.463), OPS (.857), and at-bats per RBI (4.8). He started 20 games at catcher and two at designated hitter, also making two appearances at first base and one as a pitcher. In 320 career major league games with the New York Mets (2015-18), Cleveland Indians (2019), and Red Sox (2020), Plawecki has hit .229 (216-for-943) with 18 home runs.
