Red Sox sign fourth-round Draft pick Jeremy Wu-Yelland

BOSTON, MA -- The Boston Red Sox today signed left-handed pitcher Jeremy Wu-Yelland, the club’s fourth-round selection (118th overall) in the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Red Sox Director of Amateur Scouting Paul Toboni made the announcement.

Wu-Yelland, a six-foot-two, 210-pound left-hander out of the University of Hawaii, went 1-1 with a 0.69 ERA (1 ER/13.0 IP), 16 strikeouts, and five walks over seven relief appearances in 2020, including 4.0 scoreless innings on March 1 at Vanderbilt University. The Spokane, WA, native made 40 appearances (eight starts) during his three-year career at Hawaii, going 4-8 with a 4.67 ERA (46 ER/88.2 IP), 92 strikeouts, and a .228 opponent batting average. He also pitched for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2019, making the second-most appearances on the team (10) while going 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA (9 ER/25.2 IP) and 26 strikeouts.
