Royals Charities offers '70 for 70' tonight; Strike Out Slavery concert featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill on Saturday

KANSAS CITY, MO (August 13, 2019) – The Kansas City Royals will host the St. Louis Cardinals (August 13-14) and New York Mets (August 16-18). Royals Charities will host the “70 for 70” 50/50 Raffle where fans will have the opportunity to win a minimum of $35,000 (August 13). The organization will also host the first-ever Strike Out Slavery event with a postgame concert by Ms. Lauryn Hill (August 17). Please see below for more details.

Tuesday, August 13 – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

• 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson – In conjunction with the I-70 Series, Royals Charities will offer a guaranteed minimum $70,000 pot in the “70 for 70” program. The winner will win at least $35,000, or half of the total proceeds, with the other half benefiting Royals Charities. Fans located in Missouri can also participate in the raffle on-line at www.royals.com/5050. The winning number will be drawn during the 6th inning of the game.

Wednesday, August 14 – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

•  Dream Factory – Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

•  50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson – A portion of the proceeds from the daily Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit the 1 Million Project Foundation. Fans, located in Missouri, can also participate in the raffle on-line at www.royals.com/5050.

Thursday, August 15 – Off Day

Friday, August 16 – New York Mets, 7:15 p.m.

• Green Team – During select games throughout the season, local organizations and volunteers who sign up to be a part of the Royals Green Team, sponsored by Republic Services, will help collect aluminum and recyclable plastics at the stadium gates and throughout from the stands. Saturday, August 17 – New York Mets, 6:15 p.m.

• Strike Out Slavery with Postgame Concert – For the first time, the Royals are partnering with Strike Out Slavery, which was created to spread awareness about human trafficking and help an international network of nonprofit organizations rally against it. The event will feature a pregame awareness festival where fans can engage with local and national organizations and participate in activities and giveaways. All fans in attendance are invited to stay for a postgame concert featuring GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter and rapper, Ms. Lauryn Hill.

• Kennedy to host Group from USO of Missouri – For the third straight season, on each Saturday home game, pitcher Ian Kennedy and his wife, Allison, host a group in a fully-catered Dugout Suite. This day, guests from USO of Missouri, will meet Kennedy prior to the game, and each guest will receive a special gift from the family.

Sunday, August 18 – New York Mets, 1:15 p.m.

• The University of Kansas Health System Awareness Day – The Royals and The University of Kansas Health System are proud to partner to bring Heart Health Awareness Day to The K. Fans can learn about heart health through interactive displays and distributed information. Honorees associated with the initiative will take part in the first pitch ceremony and the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat program.
