Twins place Royce Lewis on 10-day injured list

Jose Miranda recalled from Triple-A St. Paul

DETROIT, MI – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder Royce Lewis on the 10-day Injured List with a right knee bone bruise.

Lewis, who was recalled yesterday from Triple-A St. Paul and started in centerfield against the Kansas City Royals, was removed from the game in the fourth inning after colliding with the wall while making a catch to start the third inning. The 22-year-old made his major league debut on May 6 and has played in 12 games for the Twins over two stints, hitting .300 (12-for-40) with four doubles, two home runs, five RBI, five runs scored, one walk, a .317 on-base percentage and an .867 OPS.

To replace Lewis on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled infielder Jose Miranda from St. Paul. Miranda, who was optioned to the Saints yesterday, made his major league debut on May 2 at Baltimore and has played in 19 games for the Twins this season­­, going 11-for-67 with five doubles, one home run, five RBI, four runs scored and two walks.
