July 29th, 2021

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and University of Phoenix will kick off the second annual “D-backs Give Back To Education Week” tomorrow in support of local education with a week of community programs to enhance education and raise awareness of the organization’s initiatives. This year’s event has expanded 2 more days and will impact nearly 1,000 students and 150 teachers. The Foundation, since its inception in 1997, has supported education with donations totaling $12 million among the Foundation’s fast-approaching $75 million in charitable contributions to the Arizona community.

D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall

“We are excited to team up with University of Phoenix for the second straight year on this program that focuses our attention and resources on deserving students and teachers in Arizona. I am grateful to John Woods and UOP for partnering to help us build and grow this week-long celebration of education and community impact both now and for years to come. Education is a staple of our Foundation’s areas of service, and we take very seriously the opportunity to positively support these young minds and the leaders in the classroom.”

University of Phoenix Provost John Woods

“The University of Phoenix is proud to team up with the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. We have been great partners for many years. We partner on a number of things year-round but Education Week is one of my favorites. It gives volunteers from each of our organizations an opportunity to give back to our teachers, and to show them how much they are appreciated. The Diamondbacks value education as much as we do at the University of Phoenix, and over the length over our partnership we’ve shown time and again. To date, through our partnership with the team, we have provided over $1 million in grants for teachers and delivered many other great programs together.”
