Team Luke Hope For Minds partnering with Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain injuries

July 24th, 2020

Arlington, Tex. — Texas Rangers Shortstop, Elvis Andrus, has partnered with Team Luke Hope for Minds and will be donating $100 for each of his hits during the 2020 MLB season. In addition to his financial support, Elvis will also be using his platform as a professional athlete to raise awareness for brain injuries in children. Elvis’ two step partnership will provide funding to further the Team Luke Hope for Minds mission of helping children and families impacted by a brain injury as well as educate as many people as possible about common causes of brain injuries and brain injury statistics. Everyone is invited to join Elvis in supporting Team Luke Hope for minds by making a donation at www.teamlukehopeforminds.org!

Team Luke Hope for Minds was founded by former Texas Tech men’s tennis coach, Tim Siegel. Tim is also the father of Luke Siegel, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and chest trauma leading to an anoxic brain injury in a golf cart accident in July 2015. Luke’s story gained a powerful following on social media and resulted in support from some of Luke’s favorite athletes like New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova and Texas Rangers Shortstop Elvis Andrus.

Elvis is Luke Siegel’s favorite baseball player of all time and he holds a special place in Luke and Tim’s heart. Andrus visited the hospital when Luke was initially injured, has sent videos encouraging Luke and cheering him on and Luke and the Siegel’s have visited Elvis at the Ranger’s Clubhouse. His partnership during the 2020 season is just another way that Elvis has made a lasting impression on the Siegel’s and families like them who have been impacted by a brain injury.

According to the Texas Brain Injury Alliance, an infant, child, teenager, or adult in the U.S. sustains a traumatic brain injury every 21 seconds. There is a void, however, in access to services for children who have brain injuries. And that’s where Team Luke Hope for Minds steps in. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children with a brain injury and give hope to their families through support and education.

Support looks different for each of Team Luke Hope for Minds families and they aim to provide whatever it is that each family needs. Their services include financial assistance, emotional support groups, advocacy services, educational opportunities and more. Their efforts also aim to educate the public about brain injury causes and prevention as well as raise awareness for the struggles and hardships families impacted by a brain injury face.

Team Luke Hope for Minds is grateful to Elvis Andrus for his continued support of their organization and Luke. They invite you to join Elvis in making a donation for each hit during the 2020 season or by making a one-time or recurring donation to support our work.
