Twins make roster moves
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated infielder Luis Arraez from the Injured List and recalled left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer.
Arraez, who missed the last 14 games with left knee tendinitis, is hitting .288 (30-for-104) with five doubles, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored, eight walks and a .336 on-base percentage in 30 games.
Smeltzer, who was recently on the club’s Taxi Squad, appeared in seven games for the Twins this season (1 start), going 2-0 with a 6.75 ERA (16.0 IP, 12 ER), five walks and 15 strikeouts.
To make room on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Edwar Colina and outfielder LaMonte Wade, Jr. Colina, 23, made his major league debut last night against the Cincinnati Reds, allowing three runs on four hits in 0.1 inning pitched. Wade, Jr., 26, played in 16 games this season, hitting .231 (9-for-39) with three doubles, one RBI, three runs scored and four walks.
