Twins reinstate Michael Pineda from injured list

Randy Dobnak Optioned to Triple-A Rochester

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Michael Pineda from the 10-day Injured List and have optioned right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak to Triple-A Rochester.

Pineda, who missed the Twins last 12 games with a right triceps strain, has started 21 games this season, going 7-5 with a 4.15 ERA (117.0 IP, 54 ER), 23 walks and 103 strikeouts. Prior to suffering his injury, Pineda went 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA (53.0 IP, 16 ER), 12 walks, 50 strikeouts, a .237 opponent batting average and six quality starts from June 13-August 1.

To make room for Pineda on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Randy Dobnak to Triple-A Rochester. Dobnak appeared in one game in relief last Friday, pitching 4.0 scoreless innings with six hits, no walks and three strikeouts.
