CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox designated right-handed pitcher Drew Anderson for assignment and recalled right-hander José Ruiz from the Schaumburg training facility.

Ruiz, 25, made 40 appearances (one start) with the White Sox in 2019, going 1-4 with a 5.63 ERA (25 ER/40.0 IP) and 35 strikeouts.

Anderson, 26, threw 1.1 IP in relief yesterday vs. the Indians, allowing four runs on six hits after his contract was purchased from Schaumburg prior to the game.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
