CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Andrew Vaughn on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 2) with a bruised right hand and recalled infielder Danny Mendick from Class AAA Charlotte.

Vaughn, 24, suffered the injury on April 29 vs. the Angels when he was hit by a Mike Mayers pitch. He is hitting .283/.367/.566 (15-53) with three doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI and five runs scored in 16 games this season. Vaughn leads the White Sox in RBI and is tied for the lead in homers.

Mendick, 28, is hitting .250 (5-20) with two doubles, one home run, three RBI and four runs scored in 10 games with the Sox this season.
