White Sox place Tim Anderson on 10-day injured list; recall Danny Mendick from Schaumburg training facility

SEATTLE – Prior to today’s series finale at Seattle, the Chicago White Sox placed shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 5) with a strained left hamstring and recalled infielder Danny Mendick from the Schaumburg training facility.

Mendick, 28, hit .243 (26-107) with four doubles, one triple, three homers and six RBI over 33 games last season. He was a finalist for the 2020 American League Gold Glove Award at second base after committing just one error in 120 total chances (.992 fielding percentage). Mendick made 25 starts at second base, three at third and one at shortstop last season.

Anderson, 28, is 3-15 (.200) with a home run, RBI and three runs scored in four games in 2021. He left Sunday night’s game at the Angels in the first inning with left hamstring tightness after grounding out to second base.
