The Red Sox will pay tribute to breast cancer survivors on Sunday, May 14, in celebration of Mother's Day, with women who have successfully combated the disease gathering for a special luncheon before the game and participating in various pregame ceremony roles. Mother's Day at Fenway Park is presented by Bank of America.
 
The club will host a "Survivor Celebration" lunch in the Dell EMC Club on Sunday where the group of women from Susan G. Komen will share stories and experiences before enjoying the Red Sox-Rays game.
 
The first pitch will be thrown by Christina Hampton-Shoemate of Newark, Delaware, and Lindsay McGloughlin of Ayer, MA, two breast cancer survivors. Special recognition will be given to Hampton-Shoemate who was chosen as the "Honorary Bat Girl" for the Red Sox after a league-wide essay contest recognizing fans who have been affected by breast cancer and demonstrated a commitment to battling the disease.
 
The National Anthem and God Bless America will be sung by Fabianna Marie from Atkinson, NH, who has been fighting breast cancer for 12 years and chronicled her journey in an award-winning book called, Fabulously Fighting.
 
The words "Play Ball" will be said by Carey Penney from Vernon, CT, who was diagnosed with Stage IIB, hormone positive breast cancer and has been cancer free for three years.
 
Mother's Day weekend at Fenway Park will also be the first time Major League Baseball players will have the option to use pink bats, and players and on-field personnel will wear special uniforms featuring the symbolic pink ribbon and other pink accents.
 
MLB will donate proceeds from the sale of the pink bats and uniforms from all 30 clubs to Susan G. Komen and Stand Up To Cancer.
