Red Sox to open 2020 season in Toronto, March 26

Home opener is April 2 against the White Sox

August 12th, 2019

In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Red Sox today announced their 2020 regular season schedule, which has the team opening the season in Toronto on Thursday, March 26, in the first of a four-game series against the Blue Jays – the earliest start since 2008 when the team opened in Japan on March 25.

The Red Sox have opened the season on the road eight of the last nine years. The club will face the Chicago White Sox for their home opener at Fenway Park on Thursday, April 2.

The Red Sox will play the Yankees at Fenway Park three times – June 12-14, July 30-August 2, and August 31-September 2. The team will travel to Yankee Stadium May 8-10, July 24-26, and September 8-10.

The club will make a rare trip to Wrigley Field in 2020 for a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs June 19-21. The series will be the club’s first visit to Wrigley since 2012.

The Red Sox will travel to three other National League ballparks in 2020: Sun Trust Park for a two-game series against the Atlanta Braves (May 12-13), PNC Park for a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (July 3-5), and Great American Ball Park for a two-game series against the Cincinnati Reds (September 15-16).

Four National League teams will make trips to Fenway Park next season: the Milwaukee Brewers (June 5-7), the Atlanta Braves (June 16-17), the St. Louis Cardinals (June 26-28), and the Cincinnati Reds (August 18-19).

For the first time, the Red Sox will participate in Major League Baseball’s Little League Classic on Sunday, August 23, at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania – the home of the Phillies’ Class-A Williamsport Crosscutters of the NY-Penn League. The club will play the Baltimore Orioles in the final game of a four-game series that begins at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association launched the Little League Classic in August of 2017 as part of their commitment to helping grow the game at the youth level.

The Red Sox will play at home on Patriots Day, Monday, April 20, against the Cleveland Indians, and for the third year in a row, the team will be home on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, facing the Kansas City Royals. The club will also be home on Labor Day, September 7, playing the Detroit Tigers.

Game times for the 2020 season, as well as the 2020 Spring Training schedule, will be finalized and announced at a later date. All dates included in the attached schedule are subject to change.
