Rockies Recall Outfielder Brandon Barnes from Triple-A; Parra to DL

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled outfielder Brandon Barnes from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed outfielder Gerardo Parra on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain, retroactive to June 15.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled outfielder Brandon Barnes from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed outfielder Gerardo Parra on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain, retroactive to June 15.
Barnes, 30, began the season on the Rockies' Opening Day roster prior to being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on April 29 … in 17 games with the Rockies in April, batted .194 (6-for-31) with one run, two doubles, one triple, four RBI, one walk and seven strikeouts … he started six games, all in center field … in 34 games with Albuquerque, he batted .277 (38-for-137) with 18 runs, six doubles, two home runs, 14 RBI, 12 walks, 30 strikeouts and eight stolen bases … in parts of five Major League seasons with the Houston Astros (2012-13) and Colorado Rockies (2014-16), Barnes has batted .243 (263-for-1,084) with 122 runs, 52 doubles, eight triples, 19 home runs, 96 RBI, 63 walks, 330 strikeouts and 21 stolen bases … he was acquired via trade from the Houston Astros along with right-hander Jordan Lyles in exchange for outfielder Dexter Fowler and a player to be named later on Dec. 3, 2013.
Parra, 29, has batted .263 (64-for-243) with 32 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 27 RBI, four walks, 40 strikeouts and six stolen bases in 63 games for the Rockies … his 20 doubles are tied for third in the National League … was signed by the Rockies as a free agent Jan. 20 … in parts of eight seasons with Arizona (2009-14), Milwaukee (2014-15), Baltimore (2015) and Colorado (2016), has batted .276 (984-for-3,569) with 461 runs, 202 doubles, 39 triples, 61 home runs, 338 RBI, 236 walks, 656 strikeouts and 75 stolen bases.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
