Colorado Rockies select the contract of right-handed pitcher Chi Chi González from Triple-A Albuquerque

Infielder Brendan Rodgers placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement

SAN FRANCISCO – The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Chi Chi González from Triple-A Albuquerque and have placed infielder Brendan Rodgers on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement, retroactive to June 24.

  • González, 27, will start tonight for the Rockies at San Francisco, his first Major League appearance since 2016 … was signed by the Rockies as a Minor League free agent Dec. 3, 2018 … has gone 4-5 with a 5.66 ERA (76.1 IP, 48 ER), 33 walks and 69 strikeouts in 14 starts with Triple-A Albuquerque … last appeared in the Major Leagues in 2016 as a member of the Rangers, going 0-2 with a 8.71 ERA (10.1 IP, 10 ER) in three starts … the Delray Beach, Fla., native made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2015 and is 4-8 with a 4.54 ERA (77.1 IP, 39 ER), 41 walks and 37 strikeouts in 17 career appearances, 13 starts … he will wear #50.   • Rodgers, 22, was recalled from Triple-A last Thursday, his second stint on the active roster … since making his Major League debut on May 17 at Philadelphia, has batted .224 (17-for-76) with eight runs, two doubles, seven RBI, four walks and 27 strikeouts in 25 games … in 37 games with Albuquerque this season, has batted .350 (50-for-143) with 34 runs, 10 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 21 RBI, 14 walks and 27 strikeouts … in 387 career games across parts of five Minor League seasons in the Rockies organization, the Winter Park, Fla., native has batted .296 (452-for-1526) with 247 runs, 102 doubles, eight triples, 66 home runs, 245 RBI, 109 walks, 325 strikeouts and 24 stolen bases.
