Royals honor 1,000th Buck Seat recipient

The Kansas City Royals will host the Seattle Mariners (April 8-11) and Cleveland Indians (April 12-14). The Royals will honor their 1000th Buck Seat recipient on April 13. The team will also host the first Club 42 (April 8), Dream Factory (April 10) and Stars of the Classroom (April 13). See below for more details.

Monday, April 8 – Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

Club 42 – An educational event called “Club 42” will debut this homestand. Members of the Royals Front Office meet with students to discuss their career paths and how they learned from others in the sports business. Preselected youth, ages 13-18 from Dayton Moore’s C You In The Major Leagues foundation, the Urban Youth Academy, High Aspirations and 20/20 Leadership will participate in the event.

Tuesday, April 9 – Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

Dozier hosts Big Brothers, Big Sisters – Hunter Dozier is teaming up with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City for “Step Up Big with Hunter Dozier.” The third baseman will host 30 participants to the game and will meet them in the Interview Room following Royals batting practice.

Wednesday, April 10 – Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

Braden's Hope Calendar Shoot – Twelve Royals players will join 12 local childhood cancer heroes for a photo shoot for the Braden's Hope Royals calendar. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the players will each be paired with a child for photos on the field and at The Little K. The 2019-2020 "A Year of Hope Royals Calendar" will be available later this summer for $10, with all proceeds benefiting childhood cancer research. For more information, see royals.com/calendar.

Dream Factory – Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.  

Thursday, April 11 – Seattle Mariners vs. Royals, 12:15 p.m.

Friday, April 12 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

Autism Awareness Night – The Royals join Major League Baseball to raise awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorders during Autism Awareness Night. Throughout the evening, the Royals will highlight initiatives that have been added to the stadium over the last few years, including Quiet Zones and Exceptional Concession Stands to provide a more inclusive environment. The First Pitch, Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat, the “Play Ball” kid and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” will all recognize autism awareness. Several autism organizations will host displays in the Outfield Experience to distribute information and provide resources for families.

Saturday, April 13 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 6:15 p.m.

1,000th Buck Seat Honoree – The Royals will honor the 1,000th honoree in the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat. Created in 2007 following the passing of Buck O’Neil, the seat honors those who have made an impact on Kansas City and surrounding communities.

Kennedy to host Group from Peterson Outdoors Ministries – For the third straight season, on each Saturday pitcher Ian Kennedy and his wife, Allison, host a group from the Kansas City area in a fully-catered Dugout Suite. This day, guests from Peterson Outdoors Ministries will meet Kennedy prior to the game and each guest will receive a special gift from the family.

Play Ball Team – The Royals and Major League Baseball are encouraging youth to play ball. Throughout the season, the Club will invite youth baseball and softball teams to enjoy a day at The K. The first featured team is Kansas City Shock Softball team.

Stars of the Classroom – Throughout the season, the Royals will join Missouri Lottery to honor outstanding educators through the Missouri Lottery Stars of the Classroom recognition program. Prior to the game, Missouri Lottery and the Royals will celebrate the achievements of a local teacher.
