The Yard at Mission Rock, a pop-up shipping container village, will host a Spring Launch event to introduce its new partners to the neighborhood on Friday, March 25 from 12:30-8:30pm. Along with existing partners, Anchor Brewing and Bank of America, The Yard welcomes Belcampo Meat Company, Crêperie Saint Germain, and the Street Soccer USA Park. The Spring Launch event will feature food and drink, music, games and prizes. Brewers from the iconic Anchor brewery in Potrero Hill will be tapping a specialty firkin barrel of limited edition beer starting at 3 p.m. Guests will be able to explore the Street Soccer USA Park and participate in open play from 3-5 p.m. after a ribbon cutting and opening showcase tournament earlier in the day.
Open year round, seven days per week, The Yard activates a portion of Giants Parking Lot A, at the corner of 3rd St. and Terry Francois Blvd. The pop-up village is constructed out of 13 repurposed shipping containers that were deemed no longer seaworthy. These containers now serve as community gathering spots, house local food and drink establishments and provide public, open space.
Visitors to The Yard will find Anchor Brewing's newly revamped beer garden, where Anchor's internationally renowned brews and Yard specific drafts are poured on 18 taps. The Yard is proud to welcome the innovative Bay Area-based Belcampo Meat Co. to the beer garden. Belcampo's menu at The Yard will include burgers and hot dogs made with grass-fed organic beef, sourced from their own sustainably managed farm in Northern California, as well as several signature items including beef tartare, bone broth, and snack cones and sandwiches that feature salumi from their product line in collaboration with acclaimed chef Mario Batali, Belcampo by Mario Batali.
The Courtyard has transformed with the addition of Crêperie Saint Germain, whose array of fresh salads, sandwiches, paninis, soups, and crepes is complemented by pressed juice and a thoughtfully curated selection of beer and wine. The Yard continues to offer rotating pop-up activations including a vintage game room. The Street Soccer USA Park rounds out The Yard's new additions with a brand new 12,000 sq. ft. field, constructed on top of the concrete in Giants Lot A, that will run daily youth and adult soccer leagues, as well as pick-up play.
In celebrating its first-year anniversary, The Yard continues to grow and adapt its service and offerings to the needs of the Mission Bay neighborhood and all those who visit.
In addition to the permanent establishments, The Yard Community Calendar presented by Bank of America will continue to provide weekly and monthly community and cultural events, from pop-up markets to a summer outdoor film series. There will also be collaborations with local craft and art organizations to host exciting and uniquely San Franciscan events.
The Yard provides surrounding neighbors with the opportunity to experience the future Mission Rock neighborhood on a smaller scale. Nestled between the maturing South Beach neighborhood and the emerging Mission Bay neighborhood, the Mission Rock district will be an exciting, new, common ground for San Franciscans. Mission Rock will feature a spectacular waterfront park, a diverse mix-use neighborhood that includes hundreds of new rental housing units, offices and homegrown retailers grouped along a network of green streets, public plazas and promenades.
