Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Kohl Stewart from Triple-A Rochester. Stewart appeared in 11 games (10 starts) for the Red Wings this season, going 5-3 with a 4.56 ERA (51.1 IP, 26 ER), 26 walks and 49 strikeouts. He made two starts for the Twins earlier this season, posting a 6.00 ERA (12.0 IP, 8 ER) with five walks and three strikeouts.

To make room for Stewart on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen to Triple-A Rochester. Poppen, who had his contract selected yesterday, pitched last night for the Twins, allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks over 4.0 innings pitched. He became the first pitcher from Harvard University to appear for the Twins and only the second Harvard product to ever play for Minnesota.
