The Chicago White Sox will celebrate Sox Serve Week - its ninth annual community outreach and fundraising campaign benefitting Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) - from Monday, June 26, through Saturday, July 1. Sox Serve Week engages Sox fans and the Chicagoland community through outreach events that feature current players and special fundraising opportunities. The week-long campaign is presented in partnership with Guaranteed Rate, Magellan Corporation, Proven IT and Wintrust Community Banks.
"Sox Serve Week is a signature initiative that gives a glimpse into the ways that the White Sox organization and Chicago White Sox Charities give back to the Chicagoland community throughout the entire year," said Christine O'Reilly, White Sox vice president of community relations. "We are incredibly thankful to have so many of our team members - from players and front office staff to White Sox Wives and the Volunteer Corps - dedicated to engaging with the community alongside some amazing non-profit organizations this year. We hope that our fans are just as excited to see what's planned for this year's Sox Serve Week."
Sox Serve Week includes a series of outreach events that involve White Sox players and team personnel giving back to the community. In addition, fans viewing and attending games during the week can participate in a number of unique fundraising activities, which have raised more than $1.3 million for CWSC in the last eight years. The schedule for Sox Serve Week is as follows:
Monday, June 26 - White Sox vs. New York Yankees at 7:10 p.m.
Random Acts of Kindness - White Sox team members, ambassadors, players' wives and front office staff members will engage with community members by performing random acts of kindness - from treating someone to coffee or covering his or her train fare to handing out complimentary tickets to Sox games and visiting a senior center home. Sox fans near and far are encouraged to kick off Sox Serve Week by carrying out random acts of kindness in their communities as well.
