White Sox make four roster moves

Prior to the first game of today's doubleheader vs. Oakland, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:

 

•   Returned OF Avisaíl García and INF Leury García from their injury rehabilitation assignments at Class AAA and reinstated both from the disabled list;

•   Optioned INF José Rondón to Charlotte;

•   Designated OF Trayce Thompson for assignment.

 

Avisaíl García, 27, was placed on the disabled list on April 24 with a strained right hamstring. He went 9-25 (.360) with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI over seven games with Charlotte on his rehab assignment. García, a 2017 American League All-Star, is batting .233 (17-73) with one homer and four RBI over 18 games with the White Sox this season.

 

Leury García, 27, was placed on the disabled list on May 24 with a sprained left knee. He went 6-14 (.429) with three doubles and RBI over four games with Charlotte on his rehab assignment. García is batting .262 (32-122) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs and 14 RBI over 39 games with the Sox in 2018.

 

Rondón, 24, is hitting .245 (12-49) with three doubles, three home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored in 22 games over two stints with the White Sox this season.

 

Thompson, 27, batted .116 (15-128) with three homers and nine RBI over 51 games with the Sox in 2018 after being acquired from Oakland on April 19 in exchange for cash considerations.

 

The White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 38.
