Today the Yankees acquired minor league RHP Matt Frawley to complete the April 17, 2017, trade of RHP Johnny Barbato to Pittsburgh for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Frawley will report to Single-A Charleston.
Originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the 17th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft after his junior season at Purdue University, Frawley, 21, was 3-1 with three saves and a 1.62 ERA (33.1IP, 21H, 7R/6ER, 4BB, 32K, 1HR, .184 opp. BA) in 19 relief appearances this season with the Single-A West Virginia Power.
Over his two career minor league seasons (2016-17), Frawley is 6-2 with a 2.66 ERA and four saves (64.1IP, 47H, 21R/19ER, 14BB, 67K, 3HR, .204 opp. BA) in 37 relief appearances.
