Back to School event Wednesday to provide financial tips and school supplies

With the start of a new school year right around the corner, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation is partnering with Comerica Bank, Dallas Housing Authority, and the Buckner Foundation to host a Back to School event at the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex Presented by Toyota on Wednesday, August 8.

With the start of a new school year right around the corner, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation is partnering with Comerica Bank, Dallas Housing Authority, and the Buckner Foundation to host a Back to School event at the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy at Mercy Street Sports Complex Presented by Toyota on Wednesday, August 8.
Comerica, the Academy's presenting corporate financial education partner, will provide financial tips and education to help students and parents prepare for the upcoming school year.
Festivities will also include an appearance and race by the Rangers Golden Chick Dots.
Approximately 100 fifth through ninth graders are expected to attend. The students will also receive pre-filled backpacks and other giveaways, donated by Comerica Bank. And Rangers bench coach Don Wakamatsu's WakWay Foundation is contributing nourishing foods to include with the back to school gear.
Registration for the event will begin at 6:00 p.m., and activities are scheduled to conclude at 8:00 p.m.

Regional Results
The Rangers Academy RBI Junior Division, Senior Division, and Softball squads traveled to Austin last weekend for the RBI Southwest Regionals against the Houston Academy, NOLA Academy, and Austin RBI.
On Saturday, the Rangers RBI Junior squad engineered a four-run comeback against Houston to finish with a 7-7 tie (due to a time limit) and advance to Sunday's Championship contest. The two teams faced off again Sunday at Dell Diamond, where the Astros RBI team picked up a 10-0 win to advance to the RBI World Series in Minnesota in August.

RBI All-Stars representing the Rangers Academy were nominated by their regular season RBI coaches, then evaluated by Academy coaches and staff during the tryouts, which began in June. Athletes competed in a pro-style workout for coaches to evaluate the group and select 15 players.
