Feliz finds command in impressive start, win

BALTIMORE -- The Rangers wanted Neftali Feliz to show better command of his fastball during Tuesday's game with the Orioles. Feliz ended up allowing just one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in six innings.

He was the winning pitcher in the Rangers' 10-3 victory. Mission accomplished.

"I thought he was outstanding," Rangers manager Ron Washington said Wednesday. "When he can command his fastball it makes everything better. Last night he was outstanding. If not for [Josh] Hamilton, he would have been the guy we were talking about."

Feliz didn't seem to mind people talking about Hamilton, considering he hit four home runs in the game. There is nothing like a little offensive support.

"When you have a lot of run support, you have a lot more confidence in your pitches," Feliz said. "You don't have to worry about added pressure."

Feliz said the better fastball command came from making a mechanical adjustment in his delivery. But as far as his strength and endurance, Feliz said, "I feel great."
