INGTON -- Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre had a double turned into a home run in the fifth inning against the Indians on Tuesday night at the Ballpark in Arlington.
Beltre, leading off the inning, hit a high drive off the top of the left-center field wall. Second-base umpire Mark Carlson ruled the ball in play and Beltre stopped at second with a double.
Manager Ron Washington asked for a review and the umpires went underneath to take a look. When they emerged, crew chief Angel Hernandez ruled a home run. It was Beltre's 31st home run of the season.
This is the seventh time the Rangers have been involved in a replay this season and only the second at the Ballpark in Arlington. Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a double upheld on July 23.
This is the third time this season that replay has involved one of the Rangers' hitters and the first reversal. Beltre had a home run upheld on June 19 at San Diego and Nelson Cruz had foul ball upheld on Aug. 8 at Fenway Park.
