Gentry bats second as Rangers shuffle order

ARLINGTON -- Craig Gentry made his seventh career start in the second spot of the order Sunday against the O's. He started in center field with Leonys Martin in right and Nelson Cruz as the designated hitter. Rangers manager Ron Washington planned to place Cruz in the designated hitter position Sunday, giving the club a better look defensively in the outfield.

In a perfect world, Elvis Andrus would hit second in the Rangers' order. Washington has recently shuffled in different players in attempt to take pressure off Andrus in that spot. Andrus went 1-for-4 Saturday, dropping to 4-for-25 in his last seven games.

"I want Elvis to give me a spark in that spot," Washington said. "It just gives him a little more time to relax. I put Gentry in there, and I can use him to do different things if I had to."
