Hamilton's historic bat headed to Hall of Fame

The bat Josh Hamilton used in his Major League record-tying four-homer game last week in Baltimore is headed for the Hall of Fame.

The Rangers slugger used the piece of lumber to hit eight of his nine homers last week before it broke on Sunday night in the Rangers' game against the Angels.

Luckily, the crack is small enough for the piece of memorabilia to remain intact.

"She died a hero," Hamilton said afterward, according to USA Today. "She was tired, she was getting a little weak."

Rangers fans will have the opportunity to see the bat one last time Monday night when it will be on display at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. With a $5 donation to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, fans can have their photo taken with the bat before it's sent to Cooperstown.

The bat will be available at the ballpark from the time gates open until 8:30 p.m. CT. Fans can visit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation kiosk on the third-base concourse near Section 13 for the opportunity.

Hamilton's feat in Baltimore was just the 16th four-homer game in baseball history. He became the third player in Major League history to hit nine homers and drive in 15 runs in a six-game span.
