In eighth round, Rangers select Van Hoosier

The Rangers selected College of Southern Nevada second baseman Evan Van Hoosier with the 250th overall selection in the eighth round.

Van Hoosier, listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, hit .369 in 52 games with five home runs and 33 RBIs as a freshman this season. He had a .454 on-base percentage and a .608 slugging percentage, but he also committed a team-high 16 errors. His .923 fielding percentage was the lowest on the team.
