Dr. Mycoskie practiced in Arlington for more than 40 years beginning in 1952. When the Washington Senators franchise moved to Texas in the fall of 1971, Dr. Mycoskie was appointed as the team's Medical Director and served with distinction in that role through the 1985 season, treating hundreds of Rangers players, staff, and front office employees.

His son, Dr. Michael Mycoskie succeeded him in that role, but he continued to work with the club after that time and was a frequent and welcome ballpark visitor even in retirement.

On September 15, 1994, the Rangers dedicated a plaque to honor Dr. Mycoskie that hangs to this day in the club's Globe Life Park in Arlington Major League training room. It reads:

In recognition of his loyalty and dedication to the Texas Rangers organization and the compassion he has shown to several generations of the Rangers family.

The Texas Rangers organization extends its deepest sympathies to Dr. Mycoskie's family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

The Rangers will observe a moment of silence in Dr. Mycoskie's memory before this afternoon's game with Seattle.
