OAKLAND -- singled leading off the second inning of Tuesday night's 4-1 win over the A's, moving him into a tie with Rod Carew for most hits ever by a player from Latin America.

Beltre's single off of Athletics pitcher gives him 3,053 for his career. That ties him with Carew, who is from Panama, for 25th all-time overall and first among players from Latin America. Beltre is a native of the Dominican Republic and is already the career leader from that country.

Carew spent 19 years in the big leagues with the Twins and Angels from 1967-85. He won six batting titles and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991. Next up ahead of Beltre is Rickey Henderson with 3,055 hits.
