Rangers choose local product in 38th round

The Rangers took a local prep product with one of their last picks in the Draft.

The club took shortstop Sheldon Neuse in the 38th round out of Fossil Ridge High in Fort Worth, Texas. He played on Team USA's 16-and-under National Team in 2010. He's committed to the University of Oklahoma.

"We know the kid well," Rangers' director of amateur scouting Kip Fagg said. "He's a very good player and a very good kid. …We'll see what happens moving forward, but we sure like him as a person and as a player."
