The Texas Rangers today announced several roster moves ahead of Friday night's series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Globe Life Park in Arlington:
 
· RHP Matt Bush placed on 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with a right elbow strain.
· RHP Chris Martin placed on 10-day disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday, with a right calf strain.
· LHP Yohander Méndez (#65) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
· LHP Brandon Mann (#52) recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
· C Jose Trevino (#71 - pronounced treh-VEEN-yo) recalled from Double-A Frisco.
· RHP Deck McGuire received from Toronto Blue Jays on waiver claim and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
· LHP Martin Pérez transferred from 10-day to 60-day disabled list.
 
Bush took the loss in his last outing on Wednesday at Los Angeles-NL when the game ended on his own throwing error in the 11th inning. He has no record and a 4.70 ERA (12 ER/23.0 IP) spanning 21 relief appearances over 2 stints with the Rangers this season: Opening Day-April 24 and May 21-current. The first date he would be eligible to return is June 24.
 
Méndez is scheduled to make his first big league start in tonight's game against the Rockies. He will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season, as he made his lone major league appearance in 2018 during his first stint from May 3-12. Méndez has spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Round Rock, going 0-6 with a 5.26 ERA (30 ER/51.1 IP) in 10 games/starts. At 23 years old, he will be the 4th-youngest left-hander to start for the Rangers since 2005.
 
Mann will be in his second stint with the Rangers after making his major league debut during his first stint from May 13-23. He has posted 5.0 shutout innings over his first 3 MLB outings, becoming the first Texas pitcher to open a career with at least 3 straight relief outings of 1.2+ scoreless innings since Jeff Zimmerman (5) in 1999. Mann has spent most of 2018 with Round Rock, going 1-0 with a 1.85 ERA (5 ER/24.1 IP) in 19 games/one start.
 
Martin has a 1-1 record with a 3.92 ERA (9 ER/20.2 IP) in 23 relief appearances for the Rangers this season. This will be his second disabled list stint of the year, as he was also on the DL from May 2-19 with right forearm irritation. The first date he would be eligible to return is June 22.
 
Trevino, 25, will be seeking his major league debut. The Corpus Christi native has batted .233 (42-180) with 3 home runs and 16 RBI over 45 games with Frisco this season. The club's sixth round selection in the 2014 June draft, Trevino has won Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Awards as the top defensive catcher in the minor leagues for two straight seasons (2016-17) and was the Rangers 2017 Minor League Defender of the Year.
 
McGuire, who turns 29 on June 23, has spent the year in the Toronto organization, including no record and a 6.48 ERA (6 ER/8.1 IP) in 4 relief appearances spanning 2 stints with the Blue Jays this season: May 13-15 and May 18-24. He was designated for assignment on June 9. He has spent the bulk of the season with Buffalo, posted a 4-2 record and 3.22 ERA (16 ER/44.2 IP) over 8 games/starts, holding International League opponents to a .210 (33-157) batting average with 19 walks and 40 strikeouts. A first round pick (11th overall) by Toronto in the 2010 June draft, McGuire has a 1-1 record with a 4.09 ERA (10 ER/22.0 IP) over 10 games/2 starts in the major leagues with the Reds (2017) and Blue Jays (2018).
 
Pérez was placed on the 10-day disabled list on April 30 with right elbow discomfort, and the first date he would be eligible to return is now June 29. He has a 2-3 record and 9.67 ERA over 5 starts with the Rangers this season, last pitching on April 29 at Toronto. Pérez underwent arthroscopic surgery on December 18, 2017 to repair a broken right radial head in his right (non-throwing) elbow.
 
After today's transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the major league roster, along with 5 players on the 60-day disabled list.
 
CHIRINOS TO SERVE MLB SUSPENSION TONIGHT: C Robinson Chirinos has received a one-game suspension from Major League Baseball following his involvement in an on-field altercation during the Rangers' game on Wednesday at Los Angeles-NL. Chirinos will serve the suspension during tonight's game against the Rockies, as the Rangers will have 24 active players this evening.
